Course Overview
The AHA BLS Renewal course is designed for currently certified BLS Providers who need to renew before their card expires. This recertification course reviews core BLS skills and confirms you can still perform them to AHA standards — without repeating the full initial certification course.
Participants review adult, child, and infant CPR, AED use, two-rescuer CPR, and bag-mask ventilation, then demonstrate competency through a hands-on skills evaluation. Upon successful completion, you'll receive a new AHA BLS Provider eCard valid for two years.

Course Structure
BLS Renewal is organized into three focused segments that efficiently confirm your skills and get your new card issued.
Skills Review
A guided review of all BLS skills — adult, child, and infant CPR, AED operation, two-rescuer CPR, and bag-mask ventilation — with time to ask questions and refresh technique.
Hands-On Practice
Hands-on mannequin practice with instructor feedback to sharpen compression depth, rate, recoil, and ventilation technique before the skills evaluation.
Skills Evaluation
A brief instructor-led skills evaluation confirming you can perform BLS to AHA standards. Pass and your new 2-year AHA BLS Provider eCard is issued on the spot.
Skills Reviewed & Evaluated
Every skill from the initial BLS course is reviewed and confirmed during renewal.
Adult CPR
High-quality single-rescuer chest compressions at correct depth (2–2.4 in), rate (100–120/min), and full recoil.
Child CPR
Age-appropriate single-rescuer CPR for pediatric patients with correct hand placement and compression depth.
Infant CPR
Two-finger chest compressions and gentle rescue breaths for infant patients.
AED Operation
Safe and effective AED use including pad placement, device prompts, and integration with ongoing CPR.
Two-Rescuer CPR
Coordinated two-rescuer CPR with compression-to-ventilation ratio, rescuer switching, and clear communication.
Bag-Mask Ventilation
Proper bag-mask seal, head-tilt chin-lift, and effective ventilation delivery for adult and pediatric patients.
Who This Course Is For
BLS Renewal is for currently certified AHA BLS Providers whose card is expiring or has recently expired. It is designed for healthcare professionals — nurses, physicians, paramedics, EMTs, respiratory therapists, dental professionals, and other clinical staff — who need to maintain an active BLS credential for employment or licensure.
